12 Values of Suwon Hana Baptist Church
Spirit of the Bride
Delighting in him & enjoying him as a bride, not as a worker (Rev 19:7)
The most important value that Suwon Hana church aims for is the “spirituality of the bride.” Our love for God is the driving motivation for all things. The church we desire to be is to be a people who love the Lord more than our very own lives.
Church Planting Movement
Dedicated to church planting & missions (Matt 28:19-20)
All disciples are called to do as their master. A disciple must be part of building a community of believers. Through the church, God desires to save and change the world through the church. The church is the picture of God’s kingdom on earth and we believe that his church will be built before he returns. So church development, church planting, and missions is the mission of all believers.
Cell & Community
The essence of the church is in loving relationships.
Church is family. Not a building but a family of God. We believe that small groups(cell groups) are a biblical model of church. As in the early church, many would gather in homes and small groups. A church without love is a body that lost its life. A church must come together and share their lives with one another. Cell group and community is where character is refined and disciples are made. We must do life with one another; this is important for christians.
Worship
Our spiritual lives are connected to worship (personal/corporate) - Matt 18:20.
Worship is to go before God. This is crucial for every believer. We believe believers must commit to time with the Lord both personally and corporately. We have a 24/7 prayer room. We recommend every member to have 1 hour of personal worship, cell leaders to have 2 hours, and full time ministers 3 hours. Worship & prayer is needed for all believers.
Saving Souls
Witnessing/sharing the gospel as a way of life. Preaching the gospel and saving souls is the most precious life. There is nothing more valuable than saving the lost. We cannot take anything to heaven except the souls we have saved while here on earth. Evangelism must be a way of life.
Next Generation
Preparing and training the next generation. We must prepare the next generation for God. This is a big calling and purpose of our church. Big portion of our finances go to serving the next generation to create workers for the gospel.
Holy Spirit
Believes in the continuing work of the HS since the early church (Joel 2:28).
We do not believe that the works of the Holy Spirit ended. We believe it is continuing on even today. We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, signs and wonders of God, healing, deliverance, prophecies are continuing on for the purpose of his kingdom and glory. Many around the world are being saved through dreams and visions given by the Holy Spirit. Suwon Hana Church wants to raise up disciples who are filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.
Radical Commitment
Obedient and dedicated to God’s word and ministry.
The life of a disciple calls for bold obedience to the master’s word and directions. The early church gave everything they had and dedicated their lives for the ministry. The church must carry the devotion that we see in the book of Acts.
3 P’s that we must give to the Lord: Our Purpose, our Persons, and our Possessions. To follow Jesus is to take up our cross and follow him.
Holiness & the Character of God
Dedicated to knowing and being like him. The power of God comes from holiness. Holiness, Intimacy, & Ability. In order to stand before God, we must be holy. When we stand before God, we gain intimacy. From that place of intimacy we grow ability.
Discipleship
Raising people to become leaders. Our goal for leadership is to raise up people. Not to increase the size of the church, but to grow the character of individual people to be like Christ. Jesus put his priority on the 12 disciples who would eventually go and make their own disciples and change the world. In the same way, instead of focusing on buildings we are focused on building people. We build people by spending time with people and working out hardships and issues through love and prayer. Nurturing people is a call for every leader in the church.
Prayer & Fasting
Doing ministry from prayer and fasting.
Fasting and prayer is way to have power in our ministry. In the Bible, the disciples could not cast out a demon because they had not been filled with power that comes from prayer and fasting. Praying and fasting is the door to greater intimacy with God and anointing. We must deny ourselves and grow in the likeness of Christ through prayer and fasting.
Financial Stewards
Must believe in God’s provision. We must believe God is our provider. Also to not to accept money that is earned illegally or unethically. We must also be willing to pay pastors accordingly to basic living expenses.
